I went down to MEMPHIS, YESTERDAY... Just driving my BMW.

RUBBERNECKIN' all the YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL girls along the way.

The WAYWARD WIND was blowin' softly across my face, the radio was playing, Ray Pfob's MONEY HONEY, nice and clear and I said to myself,WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD.

It was getting dark. I decided to pull over to the first clean cafe.

AULD LANG SYNE was playing on the jukebox, because it was the end of another year.

As I sat there, sipping my coffee, memories of my CHERIE, that little DEVIL IN DISGUISE, who was much, TOO MUCH for even a strong man, haunted my memory. I guess I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET HER.

On SUCH A NIGHT as this, awhile ago, my CHERIE and I sat in a booth in a similar cafe. What an ANGEL she looked like.

As we were gazing into one anothers' eyes, a commotion broke out in the cafe. I turned to see a good-looking dude, holding a child's hand, coming toward our booth. The child was wailing, DON'T CRY DADDY. My CHERIE turned pale. Too my big surprise, the child called CHERIE, mommy. I was so HURT by all this, I just looked at her, teared up and walked out of the cafe.

So, here I am, on the LONG, LONELY HIGHWAY, just another LONESOME COWBOY

I REALLY DON'T WANT TO KNOW what happened back in that cafe. I just wish I could MAKE THE WORLD GO AWAY.

She will always be GENTLE ON MY MIND. But, now I BELIEVE I want to make it right with the Lord because I'M WORKING ON THE BUILDING of getting my life straightened out, again and again..................................
